Welcome to Kirkwood
Located four miles from downtown Atlanta between the Oakhurst, East Atlanta, Lake Claire, and Edgewood neighborhoods, Kirkwood is a national historic- neighborhood with its beginnings in the mid-1800s. The community was incorporated in 1899 as an early streetcar suburb of Atlanta.
The neighborhood features Craftsman and Victorian-style homes (many on the National Register of Historic Places) and tree-lined streets, the Kirkwood Urban Forest Reserve with its wildlife viewing and trails that are neighborhood highlights along with several other community parks. Add in the Pratt-Pullman Yard development, an up-and-coming district with arts and restaurants, and things just get better and better for Kirkwood homeowners, residents, and visitors.
This in-town neighborhood enjoys close proximity to downtown Atlanta, two MARTA stations, great schools, committed and involved neighbors, and the Kirkwood Neighbors Association -an active community partner organization which sponsors several neighborhood events throughout the year.
