Druid Hills

With historic homes, a world-class university and hospital, multiple parks, nature preserves, and countless cultural offerings.

Welcome to Druid Hills

Conceived by Joel Hurt (1850-1926, president of Trust Company Bank and an Atlanta developer) and developed with the effort of Atlanta's leading families, including Coca Cola founder Asa Candler, the planned community of Druid Hills encompasses some of Atlanta's historic mansions from the late 19th and early 20th century.

One of the last design commissions of the noted landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmested, this historic neighborhood also includes a series of parks along Ponce de Leon Avenue, the parks were combined with other areas in the neighborhood and became the Druid Hills Historic District on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Druid Hills borders the Morningside/Lenox Park, Virginia-Highland, and Poncey-HIghland neighborhoods on the west; the City of Decatur on the east; and Candler Park to the south. In addition to renowned Emory University, Druid Hills is home to The Atlanta Boy Choir, the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, and the Center for Disease Control.

The Druid Hills Civic Association hosts an annual Home and Garden Tour, Fourth of July Parade, Holiday Home Decorating Contest, and other well-attended neighborhood events throughout the year. With historic homes, a world class university and hospital, multiple parks, nature preserves, countless cultural offerings, neighborhood playgrounds, and running and cycling trails, Druid Hills truly is an urban oasis in the midst of metro Atlanta.
